A few days off!

I took one of the first weekends I've had off in months and went to Portland to visit my oldest baby in college. We shopped, and ate, had facials and ate some more. Portland has some AMAZING restaurants-one of my favorites is Papa Haydn's; they have the best desserts I've ever eaten...yum!!! Each time I visit Ali in Portland, I try to include a friend of her's when we go to eat-I've really gotten to know some of her friends this way. This time, I got to know her friend Emily. The three of us went to Papa Haydn's and then had our makeup done. I had a great time getting to know her and by the end of the day she was calling me "mom"; thanks for putting up with Ali and me, Emily! Friday night we went to the Melting Pot to celebrate a belated 21st birthday for Ali and we took her friend Claire. If you've never been to a restaurant that serves fondue, I would highly recommend it! On Saturday Claire, Ali and I went to the Roloff Farm in Hillsborough to get a pumpkin for Ali's house. The Roloff farm is featured on "Little People, Big World" on TLC. It was fun to see the farm that we watch every week on tv. Saturday night was a lot of fun because Ali and I went to dinner with her friend Katie and Katie's mom, Pat. Louie and I have really gotten to know Pat and her husband, Bob, over the last four years that Ali has been at UP. Katie's family has "adopted" Ali and she spends a lot of time with them. Since we're so far away it's nice to know that Ali is well taken care of by a family who lives so much closer than we do.
I thought I'd put a little slideshow together of our girl's weekend!
