We added another female to our house today; her name is Harper! Since we had to put our little Coco down five years ago, we've missed having a dog around the house. When Ali moved home in August one of the things she has been saying that she wanted to do was to get a dog. Since she's an english teacher she's always thought that she'd like to name her pets after a literary character or author. We've been throwing lots of different names around. Mainly they've been from either "Pride and Prejudice"...Darcy, Austen (after Jane Austen), Bennett; or they've been from "To Kill a Mockingbird" ie. Scout or Boo. But the minute we saw our new little maltipoo(cross of a Maltese and a Poodle), we decided to name her Harper, after Harper Lee (actually, she's really Ali's dog, we've all just claimed her ;).
Louie, Ali, Cassie and I went to check out the pup today when Katie was at work. When we stopped at Target this afternoon to show Katie the new little lovebug, the look on Katie's face was so cute!!!
We bought a "doggie door" at the petstore today. Nick and I were going to put it in tonight, but before I knew it Katie ended up helping her boyfriend and the two of them did it! What a job!! All that for a little dog :) She's so little right now that she probably won't even have enough strength to get through it. Oh well, it's there for her when she needs it.
We've been looking at shelters and rescues, but there just doesn't seem to be any small dogs available. We really wanted to save a dog that may have faced an untimely death, but a large dog isn't really compatable with our family. We're so excited to welcome this new little puppy into our lives and I can't wait to see how much fun we all have with her! I'll post some more photos in the next few days with all the girls and the little furball, but I just couldn't wait for you all to get a peek at her :)

oh WOW. Big Brown family happenings lately...very exciting. SO CUTE. and Cassie did you cut your hair bc it looks FAB.
